For over 40 years the name Freemantle has been associated with innovative packaging machinery design. From the very first small Two Flap Sealer machines built in the late 1970s through to the many market leading Cartoning and Sleeving machines going through the company's two manufacturing sites today, the company’s success and growing reputation is built on the commitment to deliver simple and efficient machines that are easy to operate and deliver value for money. Now firmly placed as Global supplier of cartoning and sleeving solutions, the company's continued innovation will ensure the delivery of the very best machinery solutions going on into the future.
During the 1980's Mr Tony Freemantle designed a standard range of cartoning machinery incorporating many new and innovative features resulting in an unrivalled simplicity, ease of use and reliability. Since the late 70s into the early 1980s the famous Handypack carton sealer grew in popularity with hundreds of installations throughout the world, this machine remains a popular choice for many smaller low throughput manufacturers.
In the early 1990's T. Freemantle Limited redeveloped this standard range of equipment to embrace the very latest in modern manufacturing techniques. This redevelopment saw the introduction of many industry firsts and began to place the company as the market leaders in the UK. Throughout the middle to late 1990s the company enjoyed and continued strong growth which triggered the move to a purpose built manufacturing plant with fully equipped demonstration facility. Export markets began to open up with the appointment of a worldwide network of agents and distributors.
The company's commitment to continued development and innovation yielded another industry first with the launch of the Preglued Sleever. This patented machine complemented the already successful range of cartoning equipment and helped the company become the UK's market leading sleeving machinery manufacturer within two years of its launch.
The start of this decade has seen continued growth for the company which resulted in the opening of a second even larger manufacturing site close to the head office. The company continued to develop the existing Cartoning and Sleeving equipment to embrace the latest technologies and manufacturing practices. The company also added new machines such as the Header Card Applicator and full water wash Top Load Cartoner to their range. With an ever-growing global reputation, T. Freemantle Ltd have become the supplier of choice to many of the world’s leading food groups.
The company developed a range of machinery specifically for the small to medium sized beverage producer. The addition of this range of British designed and built machinery has seen the company quickly become the supplier of choice for the craft brewer. In January 2021 the company was purchased by Lifco. T. Freemantle Ltd joins the Lifco group a company of around 5400 employees operating in 30 countries. Lifco offers a safe haven for small and medium-sized market-leading businesses and helps to ensure the long term future success of the company.
Aside from technology choice, our Pack Advisory Studio assists clients with decisions on pack design and board choice to ensure project success. Complimentary advice, sleeve and carton mock-ups and product trails help customers ensure that their short and long-term project goals are met.
We offer a Buy Back scheme for customers’ with legacy equipment which they no more use, and Back to New options where machines can be refurbished and upgraded to run the latest pack designs at higher speeds. At T. Freemantle, designing and manufacturing technology that is truly easy to use remains our top priority. After a 12-month re-engineering programme, we’ve redesigned our most popular lines to improve visibility, access, and usability during production. As a result, every key part of the machine is now easier to clean, monitor, and maintain. The new design will roll out across our entire range over the coming year.
